How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe for Men

WHAT’S A CAPSULE WARDROBE

Let’s get the basics out of the way… a capsule wardrobe is a limited collection of clothing that compliments each other making it really (really) easy to get dressed each day. The pieces selected in a capsule wardrobe are typically classic, higher quality pieces that you’ll be able to wear over and over again.

If you’re still having troubles visualising a capsule wardrobe, some of the most prominent men in the world have adopted this simplistic style of dressing: the late Steve Jobs famously wore a black turtle-neck, jeans and New Balance trainers everyday, while Mark Zuckerberg wears a grey t-shirt and jeans and even Barack Obama alternated between a navy and charcoal suit through his presidency. 

BUT WHY A CAPSULE WARDROBE?

For a lot of men (and women!) getting dressed can be a painstaking process that takes up valuable time each morning. A capsule wardrobe takes the guess work out of what matches because each piece already compliments one another.

Sustainability is another benefit when choosing to have a capsule wardrobe. Because you’re typically buying fewer, but higher quality pieces, you contribute less to fast fashion and negative environmentally impacts that comes alongside it.

And of course, you can save money! Having a capsule wardrobe means you don’t need to shop as often because everything is interchangeable and goes together!  

HOW TO BUILD A CAPSULE WARDROBE?

The first step is going through what you already own and picking out what you love and wear and what you don’t – then you can start building your perfect capsule wardrobe!

THE ESSENTIALS:

Basic t-shirts

A good t-shirt goes a long way – we recommend three to four good quality t-shirts in a variety of colours. We recommend our Liam t-shirt it’s 100% cotton making it comfortable and easy to care for!

Jeans
